The Sabancı Foundation 7th Short Film Competition was organized with the slogan “Starring for the First Time… Now is the time for all women wishing to take control of their lives to star in their own stories!” The Opinion Leader of the Competition, the acknowledged producer Ada Solomon, gave an inspiring message to contestants: “There are so many young women not in education, employment, or training. These women are invisible; these women are silent. However, we, the film producers, have a voice. We can help raise awareness and make them visible. It is our job and responsibility to make their voices heard.”

Participants were asked to discuss the causes of climate change, its impacts on our lives, and the due precautions from their own perspective within five minutes. Selected by the jury, the first-place winner was awarded 25,000 Turkish lira, the second-place winner 20,000 Turkish lira, and the third-place winner 15,000 Turkish lira.

The competition was art directed by Zeynep Atakan. The jury included director and screenwriter Biket İlhan; the European Film Academy (EFA) President, producer, and author Mike Downey; director Zeynep Günay Tan; actor Kaan Urgancıoğlu; and award-winning Spanish actress Beatriz Rico. The Social Impact Jury was introduced in the competition for the first time in 2021.

This year's Social Impact jury included dramatist Sündüz Haşar, Ph.D.; Ayşecan Terzioğlu, associate professor of cultural studies and gender studies at Sabancı University; and education specialist Ali Koç.

Artists applying to the competition also had the opportunity to meet distinguished figures to learn from their experiences during the Short Film Platform Meetings. Famous names in the event included Emin Alper, Özge Özpirinçci, Mehmet Açar, and Alin Taşçıyan.
